①:Everyone in our school loves sports. Every morning after we get up, we do morning exercises. After the second class we do exercises again. We only have PE classes twice a week, but we do physical training (锻炼)at five every afternoon. The most popular sport is basketball. All the boys like playing it and many of the girls like it, too. Another(另一) popular sport is football and in every class there are a lot of football fans. Volleyball is often played when the weather(天气)is fine. We have school teams in basketball, football and volleyball. Our teams often have matches with teams from other schools. When there is a match many of us go to watch it.
Besides(除……之外) ball games, some of us like track-and-field events(田径项目), and we often practice running, jumping and throwing. Every term we have tests(测试) in these events and once a year, we hold a sports meeting.
②:Mr Brown quarrewed with his wife. He was very angry with her, for a few days they didn’t speak to each other.
One evening Mr Brown was very tired when he came back from his office. As usual, he said nothing to his wife. After supper, Mr Brown went upstairs and Mrs brown washed the dishes and did some sewing. When she went up to bed, she found her husband had fallen asleep. On her bed, she saw a piece of paper, on it were the words, “Mother, Was me up at 7 o’clock tomorrow morning. Father.”When Mr Brown woke up the next morning, it was nearly 8 o’clock. On a small table near his bed he saw another piece of paper. He took it and read these words, “Father, wake up. It’s 7 o’clock now. Mother.”
③:A shop owner (所有者,所有人) closed his shop and went home. He was very tired but just as he went to bed the telephone rang. A man asked, “What time do you open your shop?” The shop owner was unhappy bout this phone call. He put down the receiver without answering and went back to bed. A few minutes later the telephone rang again and the man asked the same question. The shop owner became very angry and he shouted, "You needn’t ask me when I open the shop for I won’t let you in …” “Oh, no. I don’t want to get in,” the man said, “I want to go out.”
