In Patriarchy society, school education is an important means to shape ideal female

characters. Though given the access to higher education, women have no way to escape from

the role the patriarchy society has assigned to them. One may see from the above that men

and women in partriarchy society is respectively assigned with different roles with man

obviously superior to women. As for textbooks, the selection would be at mercy of such

female teachers as embodied by Miss Tessi. These women are, dressed in conspicuous suit with

a brooch of gemstone pinned to the lapel, undoutedly the paragon of ideal female of a

patriarchy society. They may have selected "Tess of the D’Urbervilles" or "My Last Duchess"

as textbook, literary works so good at advocating softness and obedience of women, in order

to convey to the future female adults the social expectation to a women in a patriarchy

society. In school literature is used as means to set goals and lay down rules for female. A

submissive and decent "Angel in the House" is supposed to be the ideal goal upheld by all

women. Whoever violates the given social role would end up being knocked down as the Last

Duchess was.
