学生的学习往往有四种失误，教师必须了解。有人失误于学得过多；有人失误于学得过少；有人失误于学得过易；有人失误于半途而废。这四种失误是由于心理状态不同所致，只有了解了他们的心理之后，才能挽救其失误。所谓教育，就是发扬其长处挽救其失误。

译文:

学习的人有四种毛病，或者是不足之处，教育别人、传授知识的人一定要知道。主要是人的学习态度，或者贪多求快，囫囵吞枣；或是蜻蜓点水，浅尝辄止；或急于求成，专找捷径；或畏首畏尾，遇难即止。这四种毛病，都在于没有把心思真正用到学习之上，没有正确开发思维。教书的人知道了这些人的心思，才能对症下药，纠正这类毛病。教书的人，就是善于发现并纠正学子的失误之人。 Four kinds of problems people have to learn, or inadequate, education, others.
