by the age of：到那一年龄（时期）为止。表示在那个时期以前，有可能用在完成式中。
at the age of：在那一年龄（时期）期间表示那一时期还没经过。

another：多数中的另一个，通常在三者以上的多数中。
the other：两者中的另一个，通常用在说完了一个再说另一个的情况。

other：可以做代词用，也可以做限定词。做限定词时，其后接名词、代词等，起修饰、限定作用，没有others的形态。
做代词用时，有others的形态，意思为“其他”，但表示多数。因此就产生了the others和the other的区别，前者指“另一些”，后者指“另一个”，两者共同处是都是两者间表比较。若是多数间表比较的“另一个”或“另一些”，则为another和some other的对应。

maybe：副词，“也许、大概”。
may be：要拆开来看。may是动词，表示“可能、也许”、“可以”的意思，后面接动词原形。be 在这里就是is \am\are的动词原形。结合起来就是“可能是”。

need和must是主要的区别在否定回答的含义上，如果说“不，你不必”，则用no, you needn't。如果说“不，你不能”，则用no, you mustn't 。总的来说就是一句话，needn't表不必，而mustn't表禁止。

the other
是其中的“另一个”, 如:Give me the other one; not this one. 给我那一个, 不是这一个。
两个中的“另一个”是“the other”; 不定数目中的“另一个”是“another” , 如:This glass is broken. Get me another. 这个杯子坏了, 给我另拿一个来。(在许多杯子中的一个)
