run out是不及物动词短语,后面不能带宾语,也没有被动语态,如The ink run out.墨水用完了.一般主语是物.而run out of能接宾语,也有被动语态,如I run out of the ink.我用完了墨水./The ink was run out of.墨水被用完了.主语可以是人也可以是物.
英文字义为出去，在中文语境里引申为落伍了，落后了，跟不上潮流了。这是西文字母进入汉语的例子，是最近几年才进入汉语的年度热词，语义直接干脆，表现力强。可以表示落伍，比如 he is out 他落伍了，时尚可以用in，也可以表示外出，be out 比如my mom was out，我妈妈外出了两种意思区分就看上下文了。还有就是“滚”的意思，看见谁烦，对他喊句out。
