either的用法和位置如下：
1、either用作代词
either用作代词，意为“（两者之中）任一、任何一个”。在句中可作主语（此时句中谓语动词用单数）、宾语、表语和定语（作定语时，有的词典把它称为形容词；either作定语时，只能修饰单数名词。），如：
Either(of the books)is popular with the students.
（两本书）随便哪一本都受到同学们的欢迎。（主语）
2、either用作副词
either用作副词，用于否定句作“也”解释，通常置于句末。
I don”t like the red shirt and I don”t like the green one either.
我不喜欢这件红衬衫，也不喜欢这件绿衬衫。
As for me,I shall not return there either.
如果是我，我也不会回到那儿的。
either还可用来强调含否定意义的短语。如：
I know a good ltalian restaurant.It”s not far from here either.
我知道一家意大利餐馆，离这儿并不远。
3、either...or...短语做连词
either可以构成短语，either~or~，意为“或~或~、不是~就是~”，在句中连接两个并列成分。如：
Either you or Tom has done it.（连接并列主语）
不是你就是汤姆做了这件事。
You may either stay at home or go there with us.（连接并列谓语）
你既可以待在家里也可以和我们一道去。
4、either的反义词neither
either意为“两者之一”“任意一方”，neither意为“两者都不”。两者均可直接修饰名词，但被修饰名词要用单数形式。如：
He could write with either hand.他两只手都能写字。
I tried on two dresses,but neither fitted me.我试了两件连衣裙，但哪一件也不合身。
注意，neither可视为either的否定式，即neither=not either。
如：I like neither book.=I don’t like either book.这两本书我都不喜欢。
neither、either、both的区别有以下几种情况：
1、both（两者都），either（两者中任何一个），neither（两者都不）。以上词使用范围为两个人或物。
Neither of the two boys is clever.两个男孩都不聪明。
2、both，either
both与复数连用，either与单数连用。
Both the boys are clever.两个男孩都很聪明。
Either of the two boys is clever.两个男孩都很聪明。
There are flowers on both sides of the street.（两岸）
There are flowers on either side of the street.（岸的两边）
路边长满了野花。
3、either指两者中的任何一个，neither指两者都不。作代词时，either,neither一般接单数动词。作限定词时，一般加单数名词。
例：
Either of them will be appointed Minister of Finance.Neither of the two speaks English well.You must not favor either side in the dispute.In neither case can I agree with you.
4、either…or表示两个或多个选择中的一项。neither…nor表示“既不，也不”。either…or,neither…nor连接的两个名词或代词作主语时，谓语动词与最靠近它的主语一致。
例：
He neither knows nor cares what has happened.Neither he nor I have met such a beautiful girl before.He must be either mad or drunk.Either she or you are to be blamed for what has happened.
5、either表示也不，用于否定句。（too表示“也”，用于肯定句。）
