Is it better to learn English or Chinese?
From a pure linguisict's ppoint of view, there is no privilege in any languages, which means that every language is unique and has its own characteristics. It is not right to juege wheatehr one language is better than another. However, due to social force and econoimc effects, languages are strongly related with social status, and therefore emerged the case where people try to learn the more previliged language and ignore the non-previliged one. Chinese and English are both essencial language in the economical wordl nowadayas. Chinese has the most spearks in the world, and English is the most popular second language adapted by most of the world. In general, we should not say learning English is better than Chinese or vise versa. It depends on personal thoughts and ideas. The results could vary significantly from person to person.
