写作教学一直是高中英语课堂教学中较为棘手的问题。本文以一次主题写作活动教学环节为例探讨英语主题写作活动与学生运用单元目标语言的能力之间的关系,以下是“英语话题作文教学设计”希望能够帮助的到您!
一、研究背景
我国中学英语写作教学一直是令师生感到头痛的问题。尽管教师和学生在写作方面做了很多努力,但英语写作仍然属于薄弱环节。究其原因,一是教材编排问题。在现行的教材中,写仍然体现为巩固听、说、读的手段,没有作为知识在教材中系统阐述。实际上写作不仅是巩固和强化知识和技能的手段,其本身还具有知识体系属性。而这种知识体系在教材设计中没有得到重视,使得写作总是处于边缘化状态。二是不少教师对写作训练的认识存在误区,认为写作训练仅是一种巩固与练习的手段。绝大多数教师认为英语写作教学“高耗低效”,对短期快速提升学生的英语学习成绩贡献不大,觉得英语写作教学可有可无,对此不够重视。教师的教学思想和行为无形当中会影响学生对英语写作的态度、观念和评价,致使学生普遍对英语写作缺乏热情、信心和积极性。三是写作知识学习和技能训练缺乏有效的教学策略和模式)。大多数教师的教学模式是:教师布置写作任务――学生课外独立完成――教师独自批改――教师念范文――学生背范文。教师对学生习作的反馈往往只是一个分数,有时也画出学生的语言错误,但大多数学生只关心分数的高低,对教师的反馈往往看一眼就塞到书包里去了,类似甚至同样的错误在以后的写作中依旧出现。
二、主题写作活动的定义及概述
主题写作活动是以一定的话题为中心,以单元目标语言为依托,围绕单元目标词汇和语言结构展开的话题性写作活动。在课堂教学实践中,主题写作活动是以拓展单元目标语言为出发点,以培养学生的英语写作能力为重点,以提高学生的英语写作能力为重点,以提高学生的综合语言运用能力为目的的写作活动。
主题写作活动是检验学生是否理解和内化单元目标语言知识的重要而有效的途径之一,也是实现语言交际和语言运用的途径之一。主题写作不仅是基础性的更是能力性的,要求学生对单元目标语言进行再理解、内化、提取和综合,最终转化为综合语言运用能力。在这个过程中,教师要给予方法指导,帮助学生再次理解、巩固单元基础语言结构,全面提升语言运用能力。
三、主题写作活动的意义
确立正确的英语写作教学观念,改变中学英语写作教学的薄弱状况,是主题写作活动的意义所在。在高中英语写作教学中,发展学生的主题写作能力,有利于培养学生思维的广阔性、深刻性和创造性,全面提高学生的综合语言运用能力,为学生的终身学习和全面发展奠定基础。教师要从教学实际出发,寻找方法和突破口,改进写作教学的方法和技巧。教师要善于对课程资源进行挖掘,以顺应不断更新的课程要求,让主题写作成为巩固和促进基础语言学习、提升学生写作能力的有效途径。
(一) 确立正确的英语写作教学观念
英语写作具有动作技能和智力因素相融合的.学习认知属性(Reid, 1993)。学生的英语写作能力必须有写作知识的指导,让学生知道如何写,并在写作过程中将知识转化为能力。许多教师认为,只要学生动笔写作就能提高写作水平,因此一味地要求学生练习写作,但又不教给学生写作知识。学生经过一段时间的努力写作能力仍没有明显提高时,往往会失去写作兴趣。还有些教师认为,学生语法学好了,词汇量大了,阅读面广了,写作水平就会提高,因此在英语教学中花在写作知识学习和训练上的时间远不如听说和阅读的训练多。这些是误导英语写作教学的错误观念。英语写作是动作技能和智力因素相融合的学习结果,在教学实践中二者不可偏颇。
(二) 弥补中学英语教材写作部分的不足
目前绝大多数英语教材在知识学习和技能训练方面都比较关注听、说、读的活动设计,写的活动通常作为巩固环节安排在每个单元或者模块学习之后。写作活动只是要求学生根据课文内容以及提供的相关句型和词汇写作,然而这种写作任务实际上是要求学生对课文进行机械模仿。为什么要这么写?这么写的知识要求有哪些?这些关键性的问题教材没有涉及。这就需要教师补充相关知识。为了弥补教材设计的不足,教师应根据不同的写作教学目标要求,结合写作内容、写作方法、写作文体,补充相关的写作知识和写作策略。在布置写作任务之前或者在写作训练当中,先进行相关的写作知识指导。
四、主题写作活动应遵循的原则
要让主题写作活动发挥最大功效,学生就必须有一定的语言知识积累,才能在写作中提取相关语言素材,为主题写作提供最基础的语料,为系统而持续的主题写作活动打好坚实的语言基础。
(一) 话题内容相关性原则。
要利用单元话题来活跃学生的思维,话题的选择就要有一定的针对性。主题写作要贴近学生的生活,与学生的学习经验、能力和水平相当。教材为学生进行主题写作提供了语料和方法策略指导,有很强的指导性和示范性,脱离了单元话题的写作难以提高学生的写作能力,也就达不到巩固单元目标语言的效果,更无法全面提升学生的综合语言素质。
(二) 趣味性原则。
由于中学生正处在求知欲最旺盛的年龄段,往往对自己熟悉或感兴趣的内容比较关注,因而教师要善于利用各种活动和形式,激发学生对主题写作的兴趣。当学生的兴趣被激活时,学生写作才有内驱力和创造力,才能发挥最佳水平,写出好作文。
(三) 思维创新性原则。
要让习作体现学生独立的思想、语言和风格,不被教材提供的语言素材所限制,教师就需要在主题写作教学过程中注意培养学生的发散性思维,培养学生对语言的灵活运用及准确表达的能力。创新的过程也是综合语言素质全面提升的过程。
(四) 方法多样性原则。
在确定了写作主题后,写作活动不仅是在教材范文基础上的模仿写作,还可通过多种方法推进,如翻译语句、连句成段、选词填空等。写作完毕,教师可引导学生进行班级大讨论,推荐优秀习作,同学在欣赏学习优秀习作的同时进行小组讨论并质疑,提出改进意见,说出自己对话题的理解,从而培养学生积极的思维能力和语言运用能力(杨文娟,20xx)。
五、主题写作活动课堂实践案例探析
(一) 教材分析
目前笔者所在地区采用的是新编北师大版高中英语教材。这套教材一大优点在于其语言材料的组织都是围绕某个主题展开的。每单元有一个主题,下面每一课都有自己的话题,对于这些话题学生都较感兴趣,有话可说。这样的教材编排特点适合开展主题写作活动。每个单元的前三课或四课是单元话题下的基本词汇、短语、句型和语法项目的学习,Communication Workshop是对单元知识的扩展和综合运用,通常有基于单元话题的写作指导及任务。学生获得的单元基础语言知识以及他们运用语言知识的准确和熟练程度,完全可以通过话题写作活动来检验和强化,而且主题写作活动可以体现语言学习的价值和意义。
(二) 主题写作教学实例
下面结合新编北师大版高中英语教材第7模块,第21单元的主题写作教学案例进行探析。
本单元的话题是人类生物学,通过单元学习,学生应能够流利地运用单元目标词汇和基本句型来讨论有关人类科学的相关话题。食物、健康和医学是人类生存和发展中永恒的话题。学生对人类科学有较为浓厚的兴趣,所以此单元话题下的写作围绕人类发展展开,贴近学生的生活,易于激发学生的写作兴趣。学生对单元主题词汇和基础语句已经有了一定的掌握和积累,能够用单元基础语言材料组织语句,表达自己的想法。教师在指导学生进行主题写作时,完全可以依托单元话题语料。
克隆人是在人类生物学发展到今天无法回避的话题,但具有极大争议性,这种本身有争议的话题正适合本单元Communication Workshop的写作要求Learn to write a discursive essay,此文体要求学生第一段介绍话题,第二三段分述反面观点及正面观点,最后一段给出个人观点。但由于克隆人在现实世界中还没有出现,同时又远离学生生活,因此为了给学生带来更直观的感受,教师最好课前布置所有同学回家观看电影《逃离克隆岛》,这部电影探讨了科隆人及其引发的道德问题。
课堂上教师首先利用大量的与主题相关的图片、电影片段等创设谈论克隆人的氛围,让学生用英语表明自己对克隆人这一科学话题的态度。这一活动激活了学生写作所需的话题词汇,可以作为写前的热身。从交际功能的角度讲,这样的听、说形式的语言活动,不但不会冲击主题写作活动,反而与主题写作教学是相互统一、相互促进的。
在完成上述活动后,教师引导学生通过小组合作写一段话介绍克隆人话题并过渡到Should Human Cloning be allowed?这一主题上。这一活动调动了学生的写作积极性和主动参与意识,在轻松活跃的氛围中强化了其对概括技巧的理解和运用,学生的语言储备和发散思维得到充分激活,他们更加愉悦和主动地参与主题讨论,为下一步的写作活动做好前期准备。
在完成上述活动的基础上,通过课本P99的Writing Help引导学生通过小组协作完成a discursive essay的后三段提纲,要求第二三段分别写出中心句及至少两个论据。基于小组活动的写作练习实际上帮助学生搜集有说服力的论据并克服对写作的畏难情绪,让他们有信心完成写作。这种形式的写作训练强化了学生的语言运用技能,帮助学生初步完成单元写作要求,培养学生的写作思维和写作能力。
教师可以要求学生在写完提纲后,同伴间相互交换检查,检查内容包括拼写、用词是否准确,句式是否准确,语法是否准确,语言表达是否流畅、丰富等。互评可以鼓励学生间健康向上的竞争,激发竞争意识,促使每个学生尽力提供最好的作品,并且纠错之一的过程有时语言知识的再现和再复习过程,能够使学生在交流中得到更多的帮助,收获不同的语言思维和语言表达方式,补充和丰富自己的语言学习。
在提纲写作的基础上,引导学生利用Writing Help中的格式要求(正式与中立的风格),以及Communication Workshop中的连接词(although, even though, however, therefore, while)独立完成写作任务。此写作活动充分强化了有关连接词的理解即运用,提高了学生的写作能力。
学生最终完成习作后,将学生的作文张贴在教师里,让学生互相批阅。学生互相批阅能激发他们主动寻找差距的意识,也是对单元目标语言再理解、再巩固的过程。学生从另外的角度反思自己习作中的语言运用,强化语用意识和语言运用能力。教师在学生批阅完后,可再作进一步检查。这属于指导性主题写作。通过教师不同程度的引导和帮助,学生将自己要表达的思想通过一定的逻辑组织后用文字表达出来。
这种主题写作练习可以是独立完成,也可以是小组合作,方式可以灵活多样。指导性主题写作是介于模仿性写作和自由写作之间的过渡性写作,学生在进行大量的模仿性写作练习和指导性写作练习后,才能掌握一定的写作技巧,从而进行自由写作。指导性主题写作可以帮助学生从原始的模仿性单元语料学习过渡到具有创造性的基础语言运用,提升综合语言运用能力。
六、结束语
随着课程标准对学生写作技巧要求的提高,写作教学的地位越来越重要,每一位教师都在摸索写作教学的可行方法。有些教师认为,写作就是让学生坚持不懈地写;有些教师认为,写作就是要套用各种范例;还有些教师认为,学生必须多背才能写好作文。这些方法都有一定的可行性和效果。提高学生的写作能力必须建立在一定的基础上,如学生的写作兴趣、写作愿望、成就感等。要想满足学生的这些心理需求,教师就必须从挖掘课程资源入手,设计主题写作活动,让学生在轻松活跃的写作氛围中主动运用单元目标语言,同时教师要善于发现学生习作中的闪光点和不足之处,让学生在展现自我的过程中提高英语写作能力。

The human beings are stepping into the information society. The information industry develops very rapidly, so do the hackers, trick-playing teens, exploring children, fraudsters, and serious white-collar criminals. Thus, information security becomes an impending important issue.
In case of information breach, the victims-----government department, an organization or an institution, or a company will inevitably suffer great or small loss. Government may be threatened with national security. Companies may lose opportunities to develop new projects. And the public’s and users’ confidence will be damaged.
Then how to deal with this issue? Technology is only a partial solution to information security. What’s more important is that organizations and companies should promote the awareness on information security to its staff. However, since no system can ever be 100 percent secure, a prevention-only approach to information security management is not enough. Companies and organizations should adopt a dual approach to information security management by combing prevention and detection techniques.
With the development of the society, people pay more and more attention to education. As a result, thousands of students take part in various examinations. However, some students have been found cheating on their exams. Some of them copy from each others, some took out their textbooks or reference books to copy, some copied from small pieces of paper on which they had prepared for the exam, still some used the modern communication tools such as BP, mobile phone as a way to cheat on exams.Then, what’s the effect of cheating on exam? There are three factors for this. First, it results in an unfair competition and will destroy the creativity of those bright students.
