1、hardworking adj. 努力的
这个应该是最常见的了，它来自词组work hard（努力工作），加上了ing就成了形容词，意思就是“努力工作的；勤奋的”。

2、industrious adj. 勤勉的；常年奔忙的
这个形容词来自名词industry，它的意思是很简单的，不就是“工业，产业”嘛。
不过作为名词，它还有一个意思，表示“勤勉；勤劳”。
这个时候看一下它的词根就知道了。
indu-表示in（在里面）， str-表示structure（构造，组织），所以说呢，industry就表示在里面构建起各种东西（机器），这个整体就是“工业”，同时有了引申义“勤勉，勤劳”。
