近未来，一种代号名为VM2开始在全球蔓延，短短六个月的时间，VM2几乎覆盖全球每一个角落，所有被感染者全部化身为凶恶残暴、嗜血如命的恐怖丧尸。被丧尸咬过的人也在很短时间内变成狩猎者的同类，人类文明毁灭殆尽。 某天，凯文（Gerald Webb 饰）等三个青年男女流浪到一 个无名小镇，结果遭到大批丧尸的攻击。危急时刻，他们得到马克（Gary Weeks 饰）、汉瑞（Ving Rhames 饰）、朱利安（Johnny Pacar 饰）等配备精良的人士的救助。他们各自经历了难以想象的磨难，如今团结在一起与丧尸抗争，并向着人类最后一片净土——卡特里娜岛前进。可是在前方，无数的丧尸正等待着他们……
