both和both of主要有两点区别：

1、在人称代词前面（如us，you，them），只能用both of。如：

Both of them can come tomorrow. 他们两个明天都能过来。

Mary sends her love to both of us.玛丽把她的爱给我们两个。

2、both可以放在宾格代词后面，如：

I've invited them both. 我已经邀请了他们两个。
